What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

I love watching my girls learn and excel in new things. I still remember when I went from being proud of little kid scribbles to piano recitals and dance competitions. It’s so amazing seeing them be passionate about things that are their very own. And of course, watching them care for others and their friends on their own. Making choices that honor those who are in need and putting their needs above their own, even if it means less for them.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Phew, it’s hard watching my girls hurt. It’s hard letting them learn hard lessons for themselves; giving them space to go through something, hoping they’ll come out the other side with something positive. It’s also hard dealing with mental health issues. Having a daughter struggle with depression and knowing when to push, when to hug and when to make hard decisions for safety.

What would you do with $20,000?

To be honest, we could really use some extra $$ right now for car payments and general care around the house. However, we supported a coworker while she did a long term mission in Malawi through the group Word Made Flesh. We sponsor two little boys that my girls write to. They maintain an orphanage/school and are building a medical center utilizing docs from the community. We would def give some to them. I would also support my girls woman owned dance studio. We love it there!
