Trisha Archer

I’m trying my best to raise 2 kids as an only parent. I lost my husband in 2017. After, I moved for them to have accessibility to more.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Seeing my kids at older ages able to show true concern and love to those they care about. They haven’t let the world make them hard. They have had to deal with more than most their age should have to and the grace they still show others is something that makes me very proud. When you spend so much effort hoping they will see you handling hard things with some positivity and bravery and then it starts to show up in how they handle things.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

I have been taught that I will never be the parent who has it all, or anything, figured out. I have to take it a day at a time. When you think you’ve conquered one thing and another new issue arises. When I read that I’m still doing everything I’m doing for the first time as a mom of whatever age your kids are. I’ve never been 39 with a 16 year old. Next year I will have been 40 for the first time with a 17 year old. It’s all new, daily.

What would you do with $20,000?

I will use it for college for them should they need it but also take them on a trip somewhere they have dreamed of going.
