I am a single mom of two great kids. My daughter has some medical issues and my son has Autism.
We would like to thank you for supporting Tonya Ray in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
Though it may be stressful sometimes, it is a pleasure & an honor to watch them grow into wonderful, kind human beings. Dr's said Jordan would never walk, talk, want to be touched, or love. Jordan is EVERYTHING the doctor said he would never be. My daughter, even though she is in pain a lot, is so sweet and active in the special needs community. Watching my son thrive and hit milestones and watching Lexi work really hard to get good grades so she can go to college to be a Dr is the reward.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Patience, resilience, and humility are the biggest lessons. Even though I am a single mom, the struggle sometimes is rough but then I look at my kids and know that it is all worth it. Autism has taught me to be more patient, to look further into a situation before making a decision and bouncing back from things that knock me down. Looking at my kids' faces being happy makes me happy and proud.
What would you do with $20,000?I would do 2 things, fix up the home I inherited from my home as it needs a lot of work and I can't afford to fix it. I would also like to take my kids to Hawaii. That is a place we have always wanted to go. I would also like to use part of it to finish opening my special need's foundation called "Jordan's Circle of Friends".
