I love that I understand my children’s hearts so deeply. I know what brings them joy or makes them sad. I am who they run to with their big emotions to hold them close, comfort them, help them find the words for what they’re feeling. My favorite moments are the quiet ones at bedtime, when they tell their hopes, dreams, and all the questions on their minds. In those moments, I’m reminded that I am their safe place their constant, their comfort, and there is nothing more meaningful than that.

I’ve learned that it’s okay to be imperfect. I won’t always have the right answers, and I will make mistakes, but when I give myself grace, I’m able to be more present and loving with my children. I’ve also learned the power of saying “I’m sorry.” Those moments help restore peace in our home and remind my children that even when we mess up, we are forgiven and still deeply loved.

I have the privilege of being a house parent at a children’s home, so alongside my three boys, my heart has grown to hold five to eight more children who simply need a safe, loving place to belong. Part of the money would go toward giving all of our kids a special vacation, something joyful where they can make happy memories! I would give back to to the children’s home that has given so much to us; restoring buildings and breathing new life into the spaces these kids call home.
