Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

My children are all so different, and seeing them interact and look out for each other gives me so much hope for them as they age. Knowing I’ve given my children built in friends who will all have each other’s backs, celebrate their wins, and love them for exactly who they are is the most I could ask for. Being out in the world is scary, but being out there celebrated by people who love you completely gives you the courage to thrive in it. They are seen, known, and loved, and that is everything.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood has taught me the power of humility and repair. When I make a mistake as a mom and pour more into repairing and apologizing than justifying my mistakes, I see how impactful it is on my children. I’ve taken that lesson outside of my home and into all of my relationships. Be humble enough to admit your own faults and wrongdoing and mend what you may have injured.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would pay off debt and prepare to be out of work to donate my liver to my sister. We’ve been helping support my sister through cholangeocarcinoma for the last five years- she’s lived with us, I was out of work for months traveling to care for her, and our lives have gone on hold. Everyone has sacrificed and my husband and children haven’t complained, they’ve just supported. I would use it to help with medical debts and prepare for the transplant to save her life!
