The most rewarding part for me is being able to be a safe space for my daughter and her amazing friends. Being a 13 year old girl, with type 1 diabetes is an absolute challenge in today’s society. She knows she can come to me, count on me, and that we are in this together. Bonus is being able to make her laugh at this age, lol! Mom- jokes for the win (even if they are “cringe”)
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?I would say the biggest lesson of motherhood for me is that sometimes I can’t make everything okay for her. Middle school age, with a life changing diagnosis is something no one prepares for. So when she has issues with peers, diabetes, and just the uncertainty of life all at once and I can’t make everything better - that can be a struggle for me. I just lead with love, and help her navigate everything to the best of my ability.
What would you do with $20,000?Truly I would really like to get out of her medical debt and have a savings account started for her, for college. Right now we pay an extra $500-800 a month in medical supplies, and It has been such a rough few years, I just want her to start adulthood with something!
