I have 2 neurodiverse kids which is like a full time job, work part time, plus my own business and I have my own health issues to manage.
We would like to thank you for supporting Stacey Smith in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
Seeing my children blossom after some really hard times or difficult moments. They are turning into really caring human beings, even if their teen years look different than the typical teen. Also seeing them work really hard for their happiness and overcome so many obstacles.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?It has taught me that life doesn't go as you expect and being willing to be open to life being different is true survival. My kids are far from typical, and the struggles we face are far from normal problems. I've had to adapt and adjust schedules for many weekly appointments. I've adapted and adjusted my approach, the way I support my children, and my expectations for them and their potential future.
What would you do with $20,000?I would split the money for my two children and save it for their adulthood to help them get their grounding. My one child already worries about finances and I worry they may struggle at the beginning of adulthood. My other child becomes overwhelmed easily and the financial cushioning would be really beneficial. I am purposefully not going into specifics to protect my children's privacy, but I do know since they are both closing in on adulthood, the money would benefit them immensely.
