I rebuilt my life after abuse, sold my home to protect my daughter, and became a nurse by creating a safe, stable future for us.
We would like to thank you for supporting Sorrangy Hernandez in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
The most rewarding part of being a mom is knowing my daughter is safe, loved, and growing in a stable environment despite everything we’ve overcome. I made difficult decisions, including selling my home and starting over, just to give her peace and security. Seeing her happy, thriving, and trusting me reminds me that every sacrifice was worth it. She is my reason and my strength every day.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Motherhood has taught me courage and resilience. I left an abusive situation, paid legal fees for protection and divorce, and sold my home to start over. With the funds on selling my home , I brought my daughter to Kentucky while completing an accelerated nursing program that was for 12 months. I learned that even in fear and uncertainty, I could rebuild a safe and stable life for us. Motherhood taught me to choose strength over comfort and never settle for less than peace.
What would you do with $20,000?I would use the $20,000 to continue building a stable future for my daughter and me. After selling my home to cover legal fee, relocation, and general daily life expense,I am now working as a nurse and pursuing my Master’s as a Family Nurse Practitioner. This support would help me pay down remaining expenses, and most importantly work toward purchasing a safe, permanent home. It would give us financial stability and allow me to focus on advancing my career to better provide for her.
