Sonya Lasater-Pendall

I worked full time & went to school full time to get my Masters with my oldest as a single mom. Now I have two amazing boys aged 13 & 2.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding thing about being a mom is getting to love my boys. To get to celebrate all of their small and large victories through life. Them looking at me with all of the love I have given them. Loving the moments when they are having a bad day and mommy holding them makes it all better. Just being their mother is the most rewarding thing in the world!

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood has taught me a lot. But I would have to say the biggest lesson I have learned through motherhood is not to be so hard on myself. When I became a mom I wanted to be the best mom in the world but when I made mistakes or messed up I would be so hard on myself, but hearing my son tell me I’m the best mom in the world even when I mess up. Makes it all better and reminds me that even when I mess up. I’m the best mom in the world to the two boys that God gave me. So, I get back up!

What would you do with $20,000?

I would probably buy a heating and cooling unit for our house, as ours broke. Then I would probably put the rest of the money towards upgrading my car as the car I have now isn’t big enough for my growing taller boys. My 13 year old boy doesn’t fit very well in the back seat anymore.
