Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part of being a mom is hearing others speak proudly of my sons, watching them grow, succeed, and face life’s challenges with courage. I love hearing their stories each day, laughing with them, and being part of whatever they’re passionate about. I’m also considered a second mom by many, because empowering Indigenous youth is at the heart of who I am.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood taught me my mom’s wisdom: “leave the world a better place in all you do.” It taught me that mistakes happen and a sincere “I’m sorry” matters. It also taught me never to open a diaper too fast with boys unless I want a surprise shower. Most of all, it taught me to raise my sons to be their best selves and to support the many Indigenous youth who consider me a second mom.

What would you do with $20,000?

In my family, spending time together is at the heart of our values. Creating memories matters more to us than buying things. When the boys were younger, we took road trips that brought us closer, and those moments still mean everything. With $20,000, I’d take a trip with my family again to reconnect, laugh, explore, and make new memories we’ll carry for life.
