Becoming a mother has made me a stronger person and helped me become my best self. I am far from perfect, and that’s okay. I try to teach my children to be a positive influence and force for good, even though life isn’t always fair. We survived years of domestic violence, I became a single mom of five children for over six years, but during that time I was given the strength to complete an accelerated college degree w/ high honors, driving four hours each day to attend school, for a better job.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Becoming a mother has taught me to love, care, and forgive others in ways I otherwise would never have learned on my own. When I feel completely inadequate, I’ve learned that loving and serving my family, neighbors, and community makes a big difference in this world and gives me purpose. We live in a world where most people are now connected online, but I’ve learned there is nothing more important than true human connection, spending quality time with others simply being there just to listen.
What would you do with $20,000?With $20,000.00 I would be able to afford better medical treatment for my son that our insurance doesn’t cover. If I had any remaining, my dream is to backpack all over Iceland in the fall, and camp out under the northern lights.
