Super mom as an immigrant: building a new life from scratch, carrying two worlds on my shoulders, and raising strong kids with courage
We would like to thank you for supporting Rich Amaro in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
One of the biggest is the feeling of being someone’s safe place. Knowing your child comes to you for comfort, trust, and love creates a kind of bond that’s hard to match anywhere else. Another is watching a human being develop because of your care. From their first smile to their opinions, humor, and personality—it’s incredible to see a person unfold and realize you helped shape that.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?To be resilient and be patient. They make you slow in everything you do but I guess that’s the whole point, for you to take a pause and enjoy every moment. Motherhood has taught me that I could be someone’s favorite inspite my imperfections.
What would you do with $20,000?Invest in the kids’ future. Not necessarily in a huge way, but something meaningful: Education savings. Extracurriculars they couldn’t afford. -Upgrade everyday life (not luxury, but relief) Super practical improvements that make parenting easier: Reliable car repairs or upgrade Better mattress, appliances, or childcare support Decluttering or organizing the home These aren’t glamorous—but they reduce burnout. -Create a memory like family trip
