Olivia Gorman

I went from stay at home mom to single mom. I was forced to adapt, persevere, and dig deep into myself to rebuild and give my kids the best.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part of the journey is watching my little humans grow. Seeing them learn empathy, independence, responsibility, and other life skills is bittersweet because it’s preparing them to need me less, but it reminds me that they’ll be decent members of society. Knowing I built the foundation for their lives is very humbling

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood has taught me that asking for help isn’t weakness, it’s survival in so many ways. It gives my village a chance to bless me with whatever help is needed that they are able to give me. It gives my kids a front row seat to the dynamic that we aren’t made to exist in isolation, and that it’s good to accept help and to offer help. It has reminded me that surrendering control and being vulnerable is okay, and that the value of a strong support system is truly priceless.

What would you do with $20,000?

This money would be a huge help in my new path as a single mom. Money is tighter than it was before now that I’m running the household, so anything extra would allow me to breathe a little easier and maybe even be used toward a special trip for my kids and myself knowing that bills are taken care of.
