Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

As a former high school home teacher, I got to see other people’s children, learn and succeed. As a current homeschooling mom of three, I get a front row seat to everything and every milestone for which my kids are reaching. I get to be a support system to encourage my children to reach for the stars in their lives and I have been blessed to be able to see it all.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

I am capable of so much more than I ever thought I could be. Motherhood has given me opportunities and chances to grow, learn, and stretch in ways I never thought. I never dreamed I would start a nonprofit Homeschool Co Op with over 400 people, become an advisor to a 4-H club, begin raising animals on a small Homestead, and relearning algebra. All of it began as something for my kids, but it has turned into something that has built me.

What would you do with $20,000?

Honestly, the first thing I would probably do is pay for a curly haircut and finally replace some of the clothes that I’ve had since college because there’s always something that our family needs more. After those two things, I would spend it making memories because having my children with me is fleeting. As a single income family, finding the budget to do some special things is extremely hard, and this would allow us to make some amazing memories that will last a lifetime for me and my kids.
