Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

It’s reparenting myself and seeing the impact I have on my kids in real time. My 8yo was upset twice today because his brother told him something true that hurt his feelings. He came to me crying, and I gently told him that sometimes the truth hurts and it’s hard to hear. The truth doesn’t make you a bad person—it shows you where you can grow. He paused, smiled slowly, then gave me a high-five and ran off to play. In moments like that, I’m not just helping my son—I’m becoming the parent I needed

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

In working to protect and guide my kids, I found my own voice. I now see my value and worth without distortion or outside influence. I gained the confidence and courage to speak my needs without fear or shame, and I learned what I need to take care of myself—physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually. I once wondered how I could love my kids unconditionally but not myself, so I started offering that same love to myself... Motherhood taught me self-love.

What would you do with $20,000?

I have 2 answers for this, and hopefully, there would be enough for both. For the kids, they've been asking to go to Japan, and I've been saving and accumulating points to help offset the cost of the tickets. For myself, I would use it to add a bathtub to my master bathroom. Currently, there is only a shower, and I would really like to have a tub where I can soak and detox--and just unwind after long days.
