The most rewarding part about being a mom is finding pride in yourself and showing your children that being proud of yourself matters most. It’s a remarkable feeling to watch your children implement the pride they witnessed their mother have, in their own lives. Both living and watching your children live without fear of other’s judgement is the most comforting and rewarding feeling.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood taught me that it’s ok to be your own village. That once you’re able to get out of the isolating feeling of pregnancy and postpartum, it’s ok to still rely on yourself more than others. A lot of people expect you to join your village, and get back out there as quick as possible. But, it’s ok to find comfort in your routine and to enjoy the peace of your day-to-day. I’ve also learned it’s ok to let friendships go if they don’t align with the new chapter of life you’re in.

What would you do with $20,000?

My oldest daughter is currently in speech therapy for a significant speech delay. Unfortunately, insurance doesn’t cover the majority of her therapy so we have to pay several hundreds of dollars a month for her to receive the help she needs. Although money is tight during this period of life, I always want to make sure my children have opportunity. With $20k I would pay off my car loan so I could allocate funds towards activities for my daughters while also receiving the help my oldest needs.
