Lilliana Mook

My mother went missing when I was 6 years old so I now I get to give what I missed to my baby boy.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Breastfeeding my son. I was taught tough love, so being able to be so vulnerable and raw with my baby boy is such a magical surreal feeling. While feeding him I look down at my son, realizes I’m looking at him, and gives me the biggest smile. Seeing him grow to be a 99 percentile baby from my breast milk and body is so rewarding.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

I played collegiate sports so I was always on the go, always on the clock, always rushing to do the next thing. Being a mother has taught me to slow down and enjoy every moment. It doesn’t matter what tomorrow has planned or what yesterday looked like, it matters what’s happening now. Being present in the now is a huge thing I have learned being a mom.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would use some for a down payment on a house so that I can have my own home to continue to grow my family and create lifelong memories in. The rest I would put into a savings for my son for college or to support his dreams once he is older.
