What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

I think the most rewarding part about being a mom is watching kids grow into people that you can be proud of in this world. Seeing your child make positive choices when they could very easily choose something else, that’s impactful. In our unique situation, it is also rewarding to see our son care for others and accept them in spite of their differences because he has been raised in a home where his sister is very different from other kids.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood has taught me how to juggle every circumstance. Some days throw 10 curve balls and you just have to manage them and do the best you can. Other days are smooth sailing, and you learn to stop and take a breath, and be thankful for what the Lord has provided. Whether the days are easy or hard, I have learned to be grateful and just keep juggling.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would love to use the money to start a nonprofit to help support other parents that have children with high level special needs. Offering a couple days of respite can be life-giving for a full-time caregiver that puts their own needs last day after day. I know all moms put their needs aside, but 24/7 caregiving is exhausting on another level. I would love to help others that are struggling to maintain some balance and be a resource for them.
