The most rewarding part of being a mom is watching my son experience joy! He has the best smile, and he loves to run, go to the aquarium, and do math. Seeing his face light up with joy when he’s trail running, counting/doing addition, or watching the sharks and whales swim is the ultimate reward!
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Having a child with autism and medical complexity changed how I define strength and capability. I’ve learned to release expectations, hold space for uncertainty and love more deeply than I knew possible. Motherhood has made me braver, more patient and profoundly grateful for every hard-earned moment. I don’t need to fix what is hard, but stand beside my son as he navigates life, without rushing him. I am grateful for the small successes- eye contact, a full night of sleep, a small step forward.
What would you do with $20,000?I would use the $20,000 to provide my son with the medical care and therapies that we cannot currently afford and that he desperately needs.
