We would like to thank you for supporting Joanna Cruz in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
The most rewarding part of being a mom is knowing, deep in your children’s hearts, that they are loved, seen, and never alone. It’s not just in the big moments, but in the quiet, everyday sacrifices that build that sense of safety and connection. It’s in showing up—again and again;especially on the days when you are exhausted, overwhelmed, or unsure, and choosing to love them through it anyway. For me, it means making sure my children can not only feel my love, but also express and recognize it
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Motherhood has taught me that I am a human being who needs to care for themselves, because without my cup being full, I can’t fill their cup. That is something I have had to learn in real time, not all at once, but in small moments where I realize I am running on empty. I have learned that taking care of myself is not selfish, it is necessary. If I am constantly pouring into my kids without pouring back into myself, eventually there is nothing left to give. And they deserve the best version!
What would you do with $20,000?With 20000, I would like to remodel my backyard to become a safe, neurodivergent place for my children and their friends to play. A place with no judgment. A place where they can show up exactly as they are, without feeling like they have to mask, explain themselves, or fit into expectations that were never made for them.
