Hearing my children giggle. The pure sound of innocent childhood as it should be. My children and I are survivors of some awful experiences. To have them safely home with me, alive, still able to laugh and be silly feels like hope for healing and a future free of the pain of the past.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Patience. At times my children have told me it looks like I’m “not doing anything,” especially when they’re demanding I discipline a sibling they are angry at. The “not doing anything” is actually something. I’ve learned to pause. We have 10 children; bio, bonus & fost-adopted. I NEED to breathe and I’ve taught my babes to do the same. From teaching children’s yoga with my oldest in tow over 20 years ago, to showing my 2yr old we can breathe through boo boos, patience & FAITH is life sustaining
What would you do with $20,000?I would consider splitting the money to use for my own continued education, upgrading our backyard for fun outdoor experiences for the kids, and donating to our nonprofit helping women and children escaping DV situations.
