Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

After they restarted my heart during her birth, it marked my second chance at life, a second chance where I get to relish every laugh, hug and little adventure with my daughter. Surviving HELLP syndrome gave me a deeper understanding of how precious those moments truly are. Between the messy days, the ordinary ones, and the magical moments alike, being her mom reminds me how lucky I am to live this life with her, and that is by far the most rewarding part.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood has taught me to be intentional and selective with where I pour my heart, time and energy. I have always been driven by work, school and other goals... all of which are important, but nothing compares to the moments I share with my daughter. Life isn’t guaranteed, so I focus on living fully, appreciating the everyday moments and being present with her in a way I never truly did before.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would use the money to invest in my daughter’s future, saving for her education and creating opportunities she might not otherwise have. As a single mom and teacher working hard to provide for her on my own, this money would give us stability, help us plan responsibly and allow me to focus on giving her the best life I can, cherishing every meaningful moment together. I would also love to be able to advocate for HELLP syndrome and bring awareness to the condition.
