I am a young mom battling breast cancer as well as taking care of my nonverbal autistic son who also suffers from epilepsy.
We would like to thank you for supporting Jacqueline Torres in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
Learning every single day from my son. He teaches me to be a better person. More compassionate, more understanding, more patient and to take things day by day. It’s entirely rewarding to see him grow because I’m helping him each day and he find that comfort in me to learn too.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?You need to be patient 1000% more than you ever were and be present in your child’s life. Kids need their parents that nurture is what gives them room to grow and be happy and feel supported. Also to learn from your generational curses you are not your parents and every day things change your priority are your kids. Your health also does not change your actions with your kids, change your routine and be better each day with a fighting chance.
What would you do with $20,000?I would put a down payment to a house that I truly know my son needs. Each day I fight the battles of those who do not understand autism and what it can do to a child and the confines of a tiny apartment. I would ensure he gets all he needs to fundamentally and developmentally grow in love and nurture.
