Emylee Schelling

I left my alcoholic/abusive husband and had to start over with nothing. I’m raising my three daughters all on my own with no help.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Definitely seeing how much my kids love me. Sometimes I see it by them mimicking me, or just the way they look at me..I know that they love me and look up to me and it feels so amazing.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

That just because you’re not okay, doesn’t mean you get to not be okay. I’ve been pushed down and put through hell but I have to keep getting up and pushing through, because there are three little girls who watch me, depend on me and look up to me.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would take my kids on a vacation (they have never been on a vacation before), and also put some money away in savings. Living paycheck to paycheck, I haven’t been able to save anything. Just being able to catch up on bills and not be behind anymore, struggling, would mean everything to me.
