Love that shows up daily, patience under pressure, and the strength to give endlessly while still growing, learning, and leading by example.
We would like to thank you for supporting Elsabet Tesfaye in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
The most rewarding part of being a mom isn’t just one big moment—it’s a pattern of small, meaningful experiences that add up over time. For a lot of mothers, it’s the feeling of being deeply needed and trusted by someone who sees you as their safe place. When your child runs to you for comfort, shares something they’re proud of, or simply wants to be near you, it creates a kind of connection that’s hard to replicate anywhere else.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Motherhood tends to teach lessons you don’t fully expect, but one of the biggest for many people is learning that you can’t control everything—and that’s not a failure. You go into it thinking you’ll shape every outcome, fix every problem, and protect your child from anything difficult. But over time, you realize your role is less about control and more about guidance, patience, and showing up consistently. That shift can be humbling, but also felling.
What would you do with $20,000?I would take my kids on a vacation. I’m a single mom with a special needs child—he is 14 years old—and I also have a 3 and half -year-old girl. My son has been begging me to take him to Disneyland his whole life, but since I don’t have much, I haven’t been able to take him anywhere. I would use part of the money for that trip, and save the rest for his college.
