I'm a teacher, student, daughter, wife, advocate, and mom. I have 2 kids - 23yo boy & 16yo autistic girl. My kids are my life.
We would like to thank you for supporting Connie Kerr in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
The most rewarding part of being a mom is watching my children grow into themselves. I'm lucky to have a front row seat for all the struggles and achievements. I support them in all they do whether I agree or not; their happiness is more important. Seeing my son have a successful career, & my daughter proving all the naysayers wrong about supposed limitations with being autistic are when I'm most proud. They have learned to value family quality time over quantity time. They're kind & empathetic.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?Without motherhood, I wouldn't be who I am today. I strive to be a good role model & not give up when things are tough. My son taught me to never stop loving or fighting to make something out of your life. My daughter has taught me to never let someone hold me back because of stereotypes. Both have taught me that love is unconditional & limitless & to do what is right. To be compassionate & advocate when something is wrong or unjust. Everyone deserves to be loved without fear or expectations.
What would you do with $20,000?I would do several things if I had $20,000. I would split the money between bills/student debt, a family vacation, and savings for my kids. We haven't had a real family vacation in almost 5 years. I don't want my kids to struggle as we have at times or have to pay off my debt when I die. I want them to have opportunities I didn't because of a lack of funds. Lastly, I would donate to organizations close to our family's hearts like Autism, education, &/or cancer research.
