What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

When I became disabled, one of the hardest aspects to accept was that I could no longer be the kind of mom I had been before my injury. Now I see not only the great opportunities being a Paralympian has provided for my kids, but getting to see how they show up in society to others who have disabilities. There is nothing better than seeing your child have that level of kindness to all. Being able to be a contributing factor to all of this is the greatest gift I think a mother can get.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

You can plan how you want life to unfold all you want, but if you don't know how to be adaptable, even the best plan can fail. That being said, every failure is an opportunity to learn a lesson and evolve into a better version of yourself.

What would you do with $20,000?

As boring as it may seem, I would take $10,000 and invest it for the younger two kids. I would take another $5000 to purchase my oldest daughter a car as she will be getting her license this year. The remaining $5000 would be used to help alleviate the debt incurred due to my estranged husband's financial abuse. I have a permanent restraining order against him for his domestic violence, and his retaliation has been to inflict his abuse in this manner now that he can't be physically violent.
