Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Knowing that I get to see things again for what feels like the first time. The way his face lights up when he finally understands something or sees something for the first time that I had taken for granted over the years. It's also rewarding to see how much he lights up a room when he goes into it. He is so friendly to others and it makes my husband and I feel like he really IS listening to us. Staying home with him full time is the most important and rewarding thing I will ever do.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

When I became a mom, all of the emotions that came up in me that I had no idea were lingering around! I thought I was a patient, go with the flow person. And I was...as a childless woman. When a child comes along and the routine changes constantly and they are full of all the emotions with no skills to regulate them, it tests all the emotions in you. You have to learn to deal with what triggers you in new ways so your child can express theirs in a safe environment and feel safe.

What would you do with $20,000?

I know it's boring, but I would pay some bills! Or put some away in a savings account for a down payment on a house. But I would like to put some back to take our son back to Disneyland. He asks all the time! We took him for Christmas along with family and now he asks to go back every week. I always say, "I wish buddy!"
