Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part of being a mom is being present as my kids grow and making sure I’m the one raising them, not a stranger. I value being there for the everyday teaching moments—showing kindness, compassion, ABCs, reading, sports, and movement. It’s about walking alongside them through every stage and helping shape who they become through love, consistency, and presence.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

As someone who tends to be a perfectionist, motherhood has taught me that perfection isn’t what matters. Presence does. Kids don’t need everything done flawlessly—they need consistency, love, and someone who keeps showing up. It’s taught me patience, flexibility, and that communication is just as important as teaching—learning to listen, explain, and connect. The everyday moments—kindness, reading, ABCs, sports, and movement—are what truly shape them.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would write a skating series and continue building on-ice programs for the kids in my community, adding more ice time and teaching aids so more children can learn, grow, and feel confident. I would also use it to support my own children’s sports and activities, giving them opportunities we’ve had to carefully budget for as a multisport family—because I want them to be able to explore what they love without limits holding them back. I would put a portion toward our dream Disney cruise vacation.
