Through the adversity of divorce and life’s challenges, watching my children grow into strong, kind, and happy individuals has been my greatest reward. It’s been a joy to see them develop their own personalities—taking the best from both their dad and me to become their own unique and special blend. Seeing them give back to the community and being good humans reminds me every hard moment was worth it.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?The most valuable lesson I’ve learned as a mother is that nothing is ever straightforward. Learning to lead with patience and love, especially in difficult moments, has been everything. These are children who are still learning and growing, and so am I. Motherhood has taught me to give grace not only to them, but to myself as I grow right alongside them. It’s also given me a different perspective on my own upbringing and a gratefulness for my mother, who was also a single mother.
What would you do with $20,000?Make repairs to my home. It was built in the 1970’s and it needs a lot of love. I don’t even know where to begin? I put all of my income into making sure that my kids had the things that they needed and were able to pursue the activities they wanted to. Now that they’re all grown it’s time to tackle the next task, which would be my home. Excited to one day share that home with grandchildren!
