Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

My daughters are my greatest teachers. The most rewarding part? Watching them run, play freely, and feel safe — evoking a childhood I never had. They were born in the US, a country I chose over everything I loved: my business, my sisters (my best friends), my family, the best food in the world. I left my entire world behind. And when I see them thrive, unburdened and free — I know every sacrifice was worth it.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Growing up in Peru, amid economic collapse and terrorism — bombs literally sounding — I lived in emergency mode. I just didn't know it. I carried that state my entire life, always braced for crisis, until I had my girls. They taught me I'm not in an emergency anymore. They gave me permission to finally exhale. And that lesson became urgent: I cannot pass this survival mode onto them. My emotional health will become theirs.

What would you do with $20,000?

At the beginning of this, I didn’t know what was coming. Now, my mom has been diagnosed with cancer, and everything has changed. If I won $20,000, every dollar would go toward her treatment, travel, and helping her get the care she needs. I left Peru to build a better future for my daughters, and now all I want is the chance to help the woman who gave everything for me.
