Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

I think the most rewarding part of being a mom is being so deeply needed. When my son says, ‘Mama, I need you—I’ll miss you too much,’ or my little son calls for me the moment I step away, even just to switch the laundry, it reminds me how much I mean to them. It can be overwhelming at times, but being their safe place and knowing they need me is the most wonderful feeling in the world.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood has taught me just how much I had to grow. I never realized how self-focused I was until I had these little people depending on me for everything. You learn to put yourself second, third, even fourth—and to be okay with that, because they matter so much more. My boys are my world. No matter how challenging the moments may be, my love for them is constant, and I will always be there for them.

What would you do with $20,000?

After being unexpectedly laid off from my job of 18 years, our family has been working hard to regain stability. My husband is an incredible provider, but losing my income has been a challenge. $20,000 would bring us much-needed peace of mind—helping us catch up, complete home projects we had to pause, including an addition, and create meaningful family memories through travel. Most of all, it would give us a sense of security for the future.
