We would like to thank you for supporting Ann Shilling in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Watching my children grow up and succeed in life, and then still the values that I taught them to their children and watching them respect other people as I taught them to respect others.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to have patience patience has never been my strong suit. But having patience with your children and watching it unfold in a positive way makes it all worthwhile.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would use the money to pay off debt that I’ve incurred as a single parent from having to care for my kids when I was in an abusive relationship with their father. He committed suicide and left us with a lot of debt. This money would help tremendously, and I would want to take a portion of it and donate it to a domestic violence organization to help other women and families.
