show up every single day with love, patience, & determination even on the hard days. They come before everything and everyone
We would like to thank you for supporting Angelica Cortez in this year's competition. Your participation made a huge impact for Children’s Miracle Network® and their mission to provide life-saving care and improve the health of children across the country.
For me it is the emotional connection. There’s something uniquely powerful about having a child look to you for comfort, safety, and love and knowing you’re their whole world even if it is just for a while. Seeing my child learn, develop their personality, and slowly become their own individual has been incredibly fulfilling. I get a front-row seat to a whole human life unfolding, and knowing i’m the one who helped shape it.
What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you? That you can’t control everything, but you can always choose how you show up. You can’t control who your child becomes, how every situation turns out, or whether you get everything “right.” But you can choose patience when you’re overwhelmed, love when you’re frustrated, and presence when life feels busy. That realization is humbling and freeing.
What would you do with $20,000?The first thing I would do is purchase a new car because the car I have isn’t really reliable. I would pay off past debt to help my credit score, and I would put money away to start investing in both of my sons futures.
