The most rewarding part for me is seeing the moment when something “clicks.” Sometimes that looks like when their language really kicks in so they can communicate. Sometimes it’s math or a new skill. My favorites are the deeper things. When I see my kids do things like jump in to solve a problem without being asked just because it needed to be done or coach a teammate on how to stay calm under pressure, I can see that those quieter, deeper lessons have clicked, and that is incredibly rewarding!

I have very little control, and that is ok! I have had to deepen my patience skills and learn to trust my team. I can work with them to do the best with what we have, and I can’t control much beyond that. The older I’ve gotten, the more I think that I’m not sure I want to. I love getting to influence my people and be surprised by what life throws at us, working through all of it together.

In addition to my full rewarding career, my husband and I are musicians. Our kids gets not involved in our music with us all the time! I would use this to fund our next album, so we can show our kids how to do crazy, exciting, creative things!
