What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding thing about being a mom is watching my kids grow into their own unique self. My children have not had an easy path. They experienced and witnessed a lot of abuse by their dad but they have chosen to allow their experiences to make them better instead of bitter. They have chosen forgiveness, even though it was never sought and they have chosen to thrive and blossom instead of wilt. They shine on the stage, on the field, in the classroom and in their community.

What is the biggest lesson motherhood has taught you?

Motherhood has taught me that my heart can grow. When I found out I was expecting a second child, I was scared that I wouldn’t be able to divide my love. I wondered if I was pouring so much love into one, would I have enough to spare. I learned that my capacity to love just expanded in ways I never thought possible.

What would you do with $20,000?

The money would help me invest in our future. Since their dad was removed from the home, we have received no financial support. I have taken a second job to be able to afford my children’s travel sports. I would use a portion of the money to get my student loans out of default so that I may finish my degree and increase my earning potential and create more stability for them.
