Choosing to be a different parent than what you had is powerful. It means understanding your children emotionally, meeting them with empathy, and truly listening. It’s seeing your lessons reflected in their everyday actions. It’s the hugs where they say you’re the best, the quiet moments spent reading or watching movies together, and the memories of when they were small enough to hold—cherishing every stage as they grow.

I have the power to break cycles that have been passed down for generations. I can choose a different path—one rooted in patience, understanding, and love. It starts with slowing down, being present, and truly listening to my children. Their voices, feelings, and needs matter. By showing up for them in ways I may not have experienced myself, I’m creating a healthier, stronger foundation for their future—and changing our family’s story for the better.

We’re working to pay off overwhelming NICU bills after our baby girl endured the fight of her life—relying on multiple oxygen machines, feeding tubes, and intensive care. It was the most frightening time we’ve ever faced. With four boys and our daughter, we hope to become debt-free, find a home big enough for our family, and give back by helping those in our community experiencing homelessness.
