Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Being able to see my children happy and thrive despite their obstacles and to experience that love has no words. To see them work so hard to acquire the skills that come so natural for many and meet milestones even if it’s on their own timeline.I’m so proud.I’m able to witness first hand the power of advocacy and know that the world is a better place when we create a safe space for all of our children, regardless of their abilities.When I see my children accepted & included I feel the most joy.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

My son Chase was born at 1 pound and 5 ounces at 23 weeks and spent 117 days in the NICU. He was born a warrior and conquered so many life-threatening moments. Seeing him fight to live each day was a miracle. He is a miracle. And when my 5 year old called me momma the first time when he was 4 brought tears of joy to my eyes. A beautiful moment I had waited so long for.

What would you do with $20,000?

Having two children with special needs is very expensive. My youngest born a premie has lung disease as well so the money would be spent on medical and therapies. I would also love to take a family vacation which is something we haven’t had the opportunity to do as yet because of our other responsibilities. I am also a part of our local Autism Moms group and would love to help out with some of the events that they plan to support other moms.
