Toneal Jackson

Although I’m only 44, I’ve raised 7 children (my 4 girls, bonus daughter, goddaughter and “nephew”) plus mentored/nurtured a host of others!

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part is seeing your child(ren) grow. From the womb into a human being; through all the ages and stages. Seeing them implement the things you’ve taught them; sitting back to observe those lessons in action. The best part, perhaps, is watching them discover and walk in their purpose.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

The one that stands out most is with my two middle daughters, who were 14 and 15 at the time. They both had severe cases of scoliosis and both required back surgery. The doctor suggested I do one then wait six months to do the other. However, when they heard the news, they asked if they could do it together. Although the doctor warned against it because of how hard it would be on me in caring for them, I knew it would help them. The recovery was hard, but they healed sooner than expected!

What would you do with $20,000?

Although it’s probably politically correct to say, “Pay off debt”, the truth is that I’d want to do a family vacation. We were supposed to go to Japan in 2021, but were told the day of our trip AT THE AIRPORT that the country had shut back down (due to COVID) and were only allowing those with visas to enter. We ended up rescheduling, but never made it. We went to California instead.
