What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part is knowing that everything i’m doing will always matter to someone. I have dealt with depression since I was 12 years old, my childhood was less than easy to put it lightly, times in my life I felt as though I didn’t matter, what I did didn’t matter and that no one would be affected if I wasn’t here. Knowing I’m doing my best to form my daughter, and reciprocate the purpose she has given me has to be the most rewarding part. I want her to always know she matters.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

My daughter suffers with extreme asthma which resulted in 15 hospital visits within 8 months last year. We were there constantly especially in her first year and a half of life. One night we were being transported from one hospital to the next, I had not slept as I had to hold the oxygen mask on her face all night as it was too tiny to sit by itself. We get into the ambulance and I remember her looking at me, and saying “we say weeoo weeoo mommy.” I’ve never laughed and cried so much.

What would you do with $20,000?

I am coming up on the end of my lease with my rent being raised a 3rd time since residing here, childcare subsidy was taken away from the province for low income and single parents so unfortunately I have been looking at moving back in with my parents. A truly defeating feeling as a parent, I work 2 jobs; and full time at that. With the $20,000 I hope to use it for housing for my daughter and I to get back on my feet and out of debt. It would be life changing.
