What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The best part about being a mother is fathoming the love of the ultimate father. I have always known that He loves me in a perfect love, unmerited but simply inherited. Having children has taught me that there is nothing they can do to make me love them more and nothing they can do to make me love them less. My love for them has taught me how to be kinder with myself.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

Which one? I have a whole tribe. But when my firstborn was in 3rd grade (as an educator, he used to beat me home) and by mistake I forgot to leave the key under the mat. He was sitting on the porch hot, upset and unable to call me. When I arrived 30 minutes behind him, I explained that I am human and we are not perfect to which he turned around and said, "WE ARE PERFECT. The things we do are not," as he charged in the house. I stood there for a moment at the epiphany and wisdom of his words.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would catch up in some places & get ahead in others. I would get my firstborn's car going as he is my first line of help & take a family road trip out west as we love nature & inexpensive adventures. I would bless "The Cave of Adullum," in Detroit for troubled youth needing paternal figures. And I would get my book illustrated & published as my students have always encouraged me to write my story. And bless a few other mommas along the way.
