I have a 13 year old son with severe autism and epilepsy. I also have a 5 year old daughter. I do everything for them. They are my world.
We would like to thank you for supporting Steffi Arauz in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
In entering motherhood, we really don’t know how to prepare. Yes, we read books and we try to get as much information as we possibly can but some things are not always in a book. We learn through experience. We have motherly instincts as well. Children are a blessing. They can give us a good laugh on a bad day. They can also irritate on a good day. The best feeling is to come home and have my children come running to the door screaming, mommy is home! I believe that is most satisfying.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget? My son, Mathyius who is severely autistic grew up disliking his sister because as a baby she would cry so much. He has sensitive hearing so he didn’t want to be around her ever. One day I was in the kitchen, cooking for the kids and I hear no noise. I go into Mathyius’s room to find Ariana and Mathyius sitting together watching a movie on her tablet. It brought tears to my eyes because it was the first time ever that he tolerated being around his little sister.
What would you do with $20,000?I am a struggling mother but I do everything I can for them. I would use that money to get a better place to live with my kids. Right now, I live in a small apartment which has no space for my kids to play. I live paycheck to paycheck, but as long as my kids have everything I am content in life. This money would help a lot even if it’s to put a down payment also on a house. My dream is to leave them a home so that if one day I am not here any more they have where to live.
