As a single mom, I worked hard to reduce my schedule so I can spend most of the week nurturing Drew with love, laughter, and learning.

I love seeing my son smile and just having a good time. I do my best to be active with him, taking him out to do activities and bring him around other kids his age. I find that his kindness is most rewarding to me. The way he interacts with other people and how friendly and kind he is. I’ve seen him brighten up a strangers day by him just speaking to them in passing. I’m really raising a young kindhearted kid!
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?Oh my goodness they are endless! The first time he said l love you mommy, just randomly. He’s 2! I am in awe of him. Of course his first steps, I was right there taking it all in and smiling ear to ear. I would be crazy if I didn’t mention our home birthing experience. All natural. It was the best day of my life!
What would you do with $20,000?If I were awarded $20,000, I would invest in my son’s custodial account to give him a financial head start. I would also take him on a few trips to create lasting memories. Growing up, I never had the chance to travel, and my first overseas experience was in my 20s while serving in the Army—but for duty, not leisure. As a single mom and veteran, I want to give my son the experiences I missed: to see the world, enrich his homeschooling, and spark his curiosity.
