Shenaidha

I am battling stage 4 cancer so I can finish nursing school. My daughter is my motivation to keep pushing and show her the sky is the limit.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

The most rewarding part is hearing my daughter’s laugh, seeing her smile and being able to see life through her eyes for a bit. Life can be extremely complicated and we often take much for granted but simply hugging her and hearing her say “I love you mommy” makes every battle I struggle through every day worthwhile.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

I will never forget is when I first held my baby girl. I labored for a full 24 hours before getting an emergency C-section. As a first time mom I was terrified, worried, and anxious but when I finally got to meet my heart personified, all of my worries melted away. As I held her in my arms the world around me stopped. I knew from that moment that I would go through hell on Earth if it meant I’d be by her side, even if the hell presented itself as cancer, I will fight, for her.

What would you do with $20,000?

$20,000 is a lot of money that you don’t come across everyday. I would put half aside for my daughter and I would give back to my family that quite literally helped nurse me back to health through my difficult journey. Regardless of everything, my mom remained by my side through months in the hospital, even with a hurricane headed directly towards us, out of pure love. I could never fully repay her for the true love and comfort she’s shown me but I know I will die trying.
