I have been struggling with a chronic illness resulting in 5 surgeries all while keeping my kids feeling Loved, Happy & full of joy. 🥲
We would like to thank you for supporting Shawnna Porter in this year's Super Mom competition. Your participation allows us to aid Children's Miracle Network Hospitals in their commitment to save and improve the lives of as many children as possible.
The most rewarding part of being a mom are those moments when your watching your kids and they do something great or even kind and it literally makes your whole heart melt and feel so full of love and gratitude seeing the amazing little humans you are raising. I have been sick for the last few years and seeing how helpful, loving and patient my kids have been has really been the thing to keep my spirits up and make me so thankful through this journey of life.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?I have multiple memories that can all be grouped into one. I have 4 kids ranging from ages 4 to 12 so they definitely have their times of not getting along. But the memory that I often think about is when they come together and defend each other or have each other back. It’s so impotent because when myself and their dad is gone they will have each other to lean on and have that strong bond and love. I worked in the mental health field with kids so I know how important a family dynamic can be.
What would you do with $20,000?I would definitely pay off some debt that my family has accumulated due to my illness and unfortunately me not being able to work for a while now. I would also put down a down payment on a house that is big enough for my family of 6 to give my kids their individual space that they want and need!
