Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

Mainly the journey of providing a better life for a tiny human, while also improving my well-being through self-growth! Seeing my daughter express happiness and enjoy life within the little things such as cooking together, playing hide and seek or going to the park, makes me feel highly accomplished (which isn’t easy when you’re trying to find balance with a coparent).

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

I’ll always remember the day my daughter gave me the most warm hug on a day I was having a really tough time. This particular day I felt as though I was doing a poor job at being a parent, and without saying anything my daughter could read my heart and gave me a hug and said “it’ll be okay mommy”. It’s moments like this that I am convinced that all children are a manifestation of only the love God can create.

What would you do with $20,000?

Without hesitation, I would use the funds to open an account for my daughter that will generate interests that can be used to build wealth for her future. It is too often that black families are stricken with poverty due to financial illiteracy, and I work hard to actively work against those narratives.
