Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

I love getting to dream big with my kids. When I was a single mom, I worked so hard to pull my son and I out of poverty. He remembers how much we struggled. So it makes me feel great that my kids know they can do anything they put their minds to; that everything is “figure-out-able.” They make me so proud with how hard they work and the positive influence they make in our community with their big hearts, volunteerism in the community, and their empathy for others.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

With four kids, there are so many memories of them individually, but collectively I would say that as my husband and I were blending our family of 6 (we each came into the marriage with 2 kids), how easy our kids made it. They loved and accepted each other instantly and I will be forever grateful for the moment I went from a “mom of 2” to a “mom of 4.” I admire all of my kids for their sweet natures and their ability to open their hearts to people.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would have to consult with my kids, but I think they would want to use some of it to build a big garden with a chicken coop! We love spending time at home as a family, so I imagine we would want to put the money toward something everyone will enjoy. I’m sure they will have all kinds of creative ideas for us to consider! We’d all be so grateful to receive this gift.
