Connect What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

To be able to wake up everyday and see the flesh that I carried and created turn into bright and remarkable young girls. When they look at me, I can see their innocent love and knowing that I’m the first person they’d call on is such a special feeling. To know that I am never alone because I have them is my motivation to keep going. The greatest lessons I’ve learned in life is through motherhood. Although it is extremely challenging, seems impossible at times and exhausting, I am a better woman.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

Xmas Day 2024. Less than two weeks after my bone marrow biopsy for Acute Myeloid Leukemia and I was extremely weak. Determined to make their Xmas morning special, I struggled to make a full dinner and build a doll house the night before. Unknowingly, I contracted RSV from my girls while immunocompromised, so I fought to not be hospitalized and miss the holiday. As horrible as I felt, the girls were so happy opening presents and the kiss they gave me on my cheek meant more than they’ll ever know.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would use it to help will my expenses since I’ve been on disability due to my transplant for cancer. It has been a difficult year financially and I’m trying my hardest to raise my daughters in a safe neighborhood with a great school district. It will help me to be able to make a down payment as a 1st time home buyer, instead of spending so much on rent monthly. Also, I would give $1000 to my two daughters for future savings/investments because they are the reason for me receiving such a gift.
