Phernell Hawthorne

I am a single mother. Whether I’m mentally, emotionally drained my job as a mother doesn’t stop. I don’t complain I do what I have to do.

What is the most rewarding part of being a mom?

To be honest I never wanted to be a mother. I always thought I was going to be the cool aunt but God had other plans. The most rewarding part is being able to receive the LOVE I felt I didn’t have and being able to watch my son grow into the incredible, smart, talented young man. Everyday he challenges me as a parent and it’s so breathtaking because half of the time I’m learning things about myself I never even knew or having to relearn. Honestly, I’m still shocked that I’m really a mom.

What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?

All of the memories I cherish and will never forget. However, when my son got sick and he was in ICU for two weeks but doctors didn’t know what was wrong long story short in that moment I knew I would do whatever it took to make sure he would be okay! And to make sure he have a smile on his face everyday going forward.

What would you do with $20,000?

I would start a business or flip it to make generational wealth. Because I want to make a better life for my child. Pay off car note and help my parents.
