Receive Text UpdatesThe most rewarding part of being a mom, especially coming from foster care, is the opportunity to give my child what I never had a sense of belonging, safety, and unconditional love. I got to create a home where he always knows he is wanted, valued, and safe. That in itself is a kind of healing I never imagined was possible. Every time I see him smile, laugh, or reach out for a hug, it’s a reminder that I am breaking a generational curse and cycle I am building something new a legacy of love.
What is one memory of your kids that you will never forget?when my son was in the sixth grade. He wrote a paper about me, calling me his "Superwoman." I remember reading his words, tears filling my eyes, because in that moment, I saw myself through his eyes not as the girl who grew up in foster care, not as the woman who struggled and fought through so many battles, but as the hero in his story. It was the first time I truly realized how much he saw and appreciated everything I did, even the things I thought went unnoticed.
What would you do with $20,000?I would take my son on a much-needed vacation to make unforgettable memories. I’d put some toward my student loans to ease the financial burden and invest in our future. Lastly, I’d repair my car so I can safely get to work and take care of everything we need. As a single mom who grew up in foster care, every dollar would help build a better, more stable life for us.
